HWSETA Contracted Organisation for Occupational Certificate: Social Auxiliary Worker and Child and Youth Care Worker

Dear Stakeholder

The South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP), in 2019, issued a moratorium on the training of learners for Occupational Certificate: Social Auxiliary Worker (SAW), NQF level 05, and Occupational Certificate:

Child and Youth Care Worker (CYC), NQF level 05, pending approval of learning materials.
The HWSETA engaged all parties involved and is in the final stages of resolving the matter.
Consequently, employers approved for the two Occupational qualifications: Social Auxiliary Worker (SAW), NQF level 05, and Child and Youth Care Worker (CYC), NQF level 05, must as from 1 April 2020 re-contract their learners. i.e. enter into new work-based learning programme agreements.

The HWSETA will issue letters of approval and enter into new Memoranda of Agreement.

The HWSETA will continue to pay stipends for the unemployed learners. Tuition fees remain the same and disbursements have been made to some employers in this respect.

Please click here to view the External Memorandum.

When I told them that I did HCW shes telling me is not the same, but when I look at the book my previous book and their book is the same then I stopped attending their classes but my money was already paid up. So I want to claim my money back from them I can’t pay R25,000 for HCW which I study less on it at my previous studies thanks.

    greetings

firstly, i would like to apologize for typing in small letters, the caplock button of my device is not functioning.

i am currently registered student for the child and youth care worker programme under zigna training. our classes began in march 2021 if not late February, and i replaced someone who dropped out before the class commences. unfortunately when we started attending, students were already paid their stipends prior and us who replaced the group which dropped out did not receive stipends. the main concern i am writing you this complaint is the fact that my academic performance is being negatively affected as i am struggling to pay for my transport fares to school. towards the end of July, we were assessed telephonically and assured that stipend will be paid before the end of the month (July). up to date we have not heard an update as to the potential cause of the delay and we been attending five days a week at tshitereke village which is about 8km from where i stay.

i, therefore, kindly to ask to be updated on the stipends for the child and youth care worker students as we are about to approach the exams and our academics also negatively affected due to irregular attendance caused by delay of payment. the manager of our centre replied that she is still waiting too.

    anticipating for your positive response

    Yours faithfully

I was registered at a college for SAW in 2009/2010.Completed the course an was found competent by the assessor.
